Vanity Ink - More Senseless Random Behaviour

Friday, September 25, 2009

The second album from Finnish rockers Vanity Ink is their first on Swedmetal Records and will be out on 28th September. They've been together since 2002 and have previously released two EPs as well as full-length debut On Your Skin in 2007. Their history together shows in their latest effort - this is a band that fits well together and loves their dirty rock 'n' roll.

Opener and first single Smell the Party kicks off the album in riotous style. Annabella has a fantastic voice and can kick it with the best of them. Her abilities are wonderfully demonsdtrated throughout - check out Breathe in particular for a powerful rock ballad. Starting with just Annabella and an acoustic guitar it initially seems like a very low key track but don't be fooled. You can hear the power building in Annabella's voice, then in comes the electric guitars, drums and bass and the whole thing kicks into a new gear. Perfectly judged and crafted, it's a great example of the strength of the band's song-writing abilities.

Infectious choruses (Let's Go Down and Fine by Thursday in particular), a big sound and sleazy sensibility with a heavy vibe, and even a potentially huge stadium rocker in Everybodymoveeverybodygethurt, Vanity Ink have their own style and it's terrific!

Check out the video for Smell the Party then get the album!
